    well I think I may have lost my long comment regarding #11 MCE to the ether of approval or yahoo's filtering. So see BGG for my research and opinion. I've spent dozens of hours diving into what happened to the campaign and reaching out to printers in China.

    I'd like to recommend Maglev Metro. Very well produced, it is a joy to move the little metal trains and pick up the robot and people meeples and put them on your train and take them to places... the map comes alive with these gorgeous acrylic pieces that make up the tracks. The pickup and delivery is mixed with action selection and tableau building, but you really feel like you're progressing in the game while not being punishing in the beginning - it's slower, but you can still do everything. Ps: Long-time fan of the channel all the way from Brazil, thanks for the videos. :)

    Devir has had so many hits recently (e.g. Red Cathedral, White Castle, etc) that I guess the law of averages says sooner or later there would be one that doesn't quite do it for you. Unfortunately not helped by the structure of the rulebook as well. Thanks for the info! Hmm... now that you have me thinking about it I realize I can't really think of any great pick up and deliver games so it must not be a mechanism that really grabs my attention. There are a few games that came to mind that have some pick up and deliver in them but I wouldn't say that is the primary mechanism. The ones that came to my mind were Xia: Legends of a Drift System, Star Wars Outer Rim, Empires of the Void II, and Bus. The first 2 are more sandbox adventures where PU&D is one type of contract you can take. Empires of the Void II is really an area majority/area influence empire builder with PU&D being a small part. Of these, Bus might have the most focus on PU&D but I think of it as more of a tactical route/network optimization puzzle. But, the objective is to pick up those passengers and get them to there preferred destination. That's probably the best PU&D game I can come up with. (Leaving out the myriad of 18XX, Age of Steam, Railways of the World, etc train games).

    It is not easy to rank the heavy games among the other ones. But I would rank like this: 12. Newdale 11. Monster Expedition 10. Port Royal 9. Tybor, the builder 8. CloudAge 7. BoonLake 6. Isle of Skye 5. Broom Service 4. GWT 3. GWT NZ 2. GWT Argentina 1. Maracaibo Still haven't played The mines of Zavandor, Oh my goods, Skymines, Blackout Hongkong and Pirates of Marcaibo.

    Rambling Rap? instead of topical ramblings? Other topic ideas: your take on: cooperative games, games with meanness/level of meanness you enjoy/don't enjoy, favorite mechanics (Jamie Steigmeir - Stonemeier games does this a lot), games that took you by surprise, games that are hard to beat - that you want to keep playing until you win, how important is winning?, games or game dynamics that make you laugh - is this only party games? .... Also - maybe a different category altogether but maybe focus on why you love certain mechanics or designers or art etc...... i guess you already have that category but some ideas for that too.......

  • @leovincent6461
    @leovincent6461 5 днів тому

    I actually think it is good that you don't rate games a 10 and your reasons make perfect sense. I also think half points are fine and make sense. It is kind of funny that you might, as you say, have a rating system of 4-9, however you did good job explaining why you need the low numbers so your ratings actually mean something, and I think that is true of 10 as well. I don't think I'd rate anything a ten for the reasons you said about it needing to be perfect, but I admire that you are thinking about giving that to some games that are so awesome - that you are saying it deserves your "highest praise" - a good analogy I think for this would be the Hollywood Handshake in the Great British Baking Show. They are very rare, but once in a while he gives someone the hollywood handshake to signify his highest praise when it is deserved. I would absolutely give the hollywood handshake to you two for this channel!

    I really enjoy the topical ramblings. I agree with both of you that I want to feel that what I do in the game matters and that the next time I'm able to think what I would do differently aside from rolling better. I do also think there is variability as you said - and maybe in a fun party game that is short and everyone has similar chances then the good luck/bad luck might be fun.
